Overview
The Team Associated RC28R.1 Team Kit is a 1:28 scale, 2WD electric on-road race car developed by the AREA 51 design team. It builds on the RC28R platform with an updated steel chassis and center bulkhead that accept 24mm wide battery packs, give more room for mounting electronics and reduce chassis scrub, while keeping the center of gravity low.
Front-end tuning is expanded with new upper arm options offering 0.5 and 1 degree of camber and 2 and 4 degrees of caster, braced by a Factory Team carbon fiber upper arm brace and front bulkhead shim. At the rear, torsion-style side links replace conventional side springs (soft, medium and hard supplied), a threaded aluminum center shock controls pod movement, and a two-piece rear pod with FT carbon fiber shims lets you change axle height for different tire diameters and ride heights. The kit ships with a Radbody Mako X2 body, V2 White wheels, a gear differential and a universal front bumper, and is supplied as a kit that you assemble and fit with your own micro electronics.
Key Features
- Updated steel chassis and center bulkhead accept 24mm wide battery packs and reduce chassis scrub
- New upper arms with 0.5 and 1 degree camber and 2 and 4 degree caster options
- Factory Team carbon fiber upper arm brace and front bulkhead shim
- Torsion-style side links act as side springs – soft, medium and hard options included
- Adjustable rear pod roll center inserts to match roll characteristics to grip level
- Optimized roll geometry with side damper tubes
- Threaded aluminum center shock with adjustable droop and spring collar
- Two-piece rear pod with adjustable axle height using FT carbon fiber shims
- Gear differential included; compatible with other aftermarket differential options
- Hard plastic and polycarbonate body mounting options
- V2 White wheels that accept optional front wheel flanges to tune steering feel
- Universal front bumper and Radbody Mako X2 body included
Performance Benefits
- Wider battery compatibility lets you run current 24mm 1:28 LiPo packs without modification
- Camber and caster options let you tune front grip and steering response for carpet, asphalt or RCP-style tracks
- Torsion side links and roll center inserts give quick, repeatable roll-stiffness changes as grip changes
- Adjustable axle height keeps ride height correct as tires wear or when switching tire diameters
- Threaded center shock with droop adjustment allows fine control of rear pod movement over bumps and seams
Usage Notes
- Supplied as an unassembled kit – build time and basic hand tools are required; follow the included manual
- Designed for competitive 1:28 on-road racing on prepared surfaces
- Team Associated recommends a SONIC 1525 micro brushless motor (2500kV, 3500kV or 4500kV), a REEDY Blackbox 300R micro ESC, a REEDY RS0305A micro servo and a 7.4V 1:28 stick LiPo (REEDY 400mAh or Stockstar 480mAh)
- Fine-tune the front end with the camber/caster arm options before changing side-link stiffness
- A 4.5mm nut driver is handy for the wheel nuts on 1:28 vehicles
