The Castle Creations Hydra X 8S is a high‑performance brushless marine electronic speed controller engineered for extreme RC boat applications. Based on the proven Mamba Monster X 8S platform, the Hydra X 8S replaces the air‑cooled heatsink with a precision‑machined water‑cooled heatsink and aluminum top plate, delivering superior thermal control under sustained high‑load operation.
Designed for powerful monohull boats up to approximately 36 inches in length, this ESC provides exceptional power handling, advanced tuning options, and rugged waterproof construction.
Performance and Design
The Hydra X 8S features Castle’s CRYO‑DRIVE™ Technology, which actively reduces internal heat generation by minimizing the time power‑handling components spend in high‑resistance states. This results in cooler operation, improved efficiency, and longer run times, especially at partial throttle where most driving occurs.
The ESC is housed in a CNC‑machined aluminum case and fully potted in waterproof epoxy to protect internal electronics and promote efficient heat transfer. Integrated .17‑inch aluminum water fittings with standard 10‑32 UNF threads allow easy connection to standard 1/8‑inch water‑cooling tubing.
