Description
As the last generation Nissan Silvia, the S15 was remodeled in 1999 and downsized from the previous S14 to restore the light driving characteristics of a compact FR sports car.
The Spec R was the top of the S15 range and was equipped with a 2 liter straight-4 turbo SR20DET engine producing 250ps (manual transmission) and docked with either a 6MT or 4AT. Strengthened brakes and improved body rigidity delivered further performance improvement.
This S15 model was equipped with a full aero kit by Nismo, Nissan’s directly affiliated customization manufacturer. The aero kit with its front bumper spoiler, side skirt, rear bumper spoiler and rear wing, not only looked sharp, it also enhanced performance by reducing front lift and increasing rear ground contact as well as improving cooling efficiency of the engine and brakes.
As the design is not 'over-styled', the S15 Silvia Spec R could be driven comfortably as a street car. However, the stickers on the bonnet and sides are not for sale.
